In 1976 I moved to New York City from Florida where I had spent my first 22 years.

My goal was to be in the music business and my first years in NYC I found work as a publicist for a rock and roll publicity firm (The Howard Bloom Organization), a promotion person for a record label (Ariola Records USA) and a record producer for an independent disco producer (The Joe Long Sound). I had my first introduction to lighting in 1979 via the New York nightclub scene and discotheques and I began my career in lighting working for various clubs in the NYC area such as NewYork, New York; Bonds; The Ice Palace 57 and Fire Island; The Saint; Paradise Garage; The Red Parrot. I also designed my first permanent installation in 1981, the light show at the Pavilion, a disco in Fire Island Pines.

In 1986 I had the good fortune to be a part of the Palladium nightclub (NYC), which had Vari*lite series 100 luminaries as part of the light show. I received training to operate the Vari*lite system and later to be one of the house Vari*lite technicians. In 1991 I left the Palladium for a career as a free-lance lighting designer. That year I also began my association with Robert Isabell, an event specialist, and worked on such high profile events as the 200th Anniversary of the NYSE, the Miller / VonFurstenburg wedding and the Whitney Houston / Bobby Brown wedding. According to Vari*lite, Robert Isabell, Inc. is one of the most prolific renters of Vari*lites in the Northeast.

Again fortune shined on me in April of 1996 when I was asked by Clark Johnson and Bill Schwinghammer (Johnson/Schwinghammer Lighting Consultants, Inc.) to design a theatrical lighting system that would be part of a sound-tracked animated show at the FAO Schwarz store in Las Vegas. This was my first opportunity to design professionally in an architectural environment. Since 1996 I have worked on such varied projects with Johnson/Schwinghammer as a runway for the Calvin Klein store (Madison Avenue, NYC); the "Lighting Painting Wall" and "Carpet of Light" at the Mondrian Hotel (Los Angeles, CA); the Opening Party for the Versace Boutique (Fifth Avenue,NYC); the Irideon AR5 fixture design and programming at the Louis Vuitton Store (101 Champs Elysees, Paris France) and the automated and television lighting system at the NBA store (Fifth Avenue, NYC).

In 1999 I incorpoated and established MSLD&C. Our flagship project was the newly renovated Star Wars/Epsiode One: The Phantom Menace area at FAO Schwarz on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Other projects include the Lighting Design for Warner Brothers Stage 16, Themed Restaurant, located at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada; Themed and Automated Lighting Designer for FAO Schwarz "Nickelodeon Area" in New York, February 2000; Sponsorship to Lightfair and Special Effects Lighting Designer of New Products Showcase & Awards Presentation. Current Projects include: Lightfair 2003 (May) and Holiday Decorations for the New York City Central Park Conservancy's Charles A. Dana Discovery Center in Central Park, December 2003.

I am a member of both the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). More recently I was appointed to the Lighting Dimensions Editorial Advisory Board.
